Opening ceremony of the Galliker Logistics Center 2 in Aclens

The official opening of Logistics Center 2 at the Western Switzerland site in Aclens took place on 13 March 2026. It was a great honor for the Galliker-Studer family to welcome Isabelle Moret, Vaud State Councillor / Conseillère d'État and Head of the Department of Economy, Innovation, Employment and Cultural Heritage, among the invited guests. Customers, partners and neighbors were given the opportunity to get to know the modern, efficient and sustainable building and the services it offers.

The new logistics center has an area of around 18,000 square metres and offers space for up to 17,400 pallets at a constant temperature of 18 °C. This makes the building ideal for storing pharmaceutical products and foodstuffs. The basement is specially designed for the storage of hazardous goods in accordance with ADR Class 3 and 8 guidelines. At the customer's request, Galliker can handle the entire warehouse management process, including picking and packing, using state-of-the-art technology.

The new building also includes bright and modern offices, training rooms and social rooms for employees. An additional highlight is the integrated showroom for customers of Galliker Car Logistics. Events such as dealer conferences or vehicle fleet handovers can be held in the new premises.

Behind the seemingly classic warehouse building lies an ultra-modern, multifunctional structure. The building stands on almost 100 concrete piles, which transfer the loads into the rock at a depth of 14 to 17 meters - four of these piles would bear the weight of the Eiffel Tower. Another key element of the construction method is the conscious and resource-saving use of materials. Prefabricated columns are one example of this: With a diameter of just 80 centimetres, they carry loads of up to 3,500 tons - comparable to the weight of 20 jumbo jets.

Logistics Center 2 is all about "Green Logistics by Galliker". It is heated and cooled exclusively with renewable energies. To this end, 30 geothermal probes were installed at a depth of 300 meters each. The power supply required for this is provided by a photovoltaic system on the roof with an output of around 790 kWp and a photovoltaic façade on the south side of the building. This is the first time that a PV system has been integrated directly into the façade of a building at Galliker. It has an output of around 160 kWp and covers an area of almost 930 m². Due to its orientation, this system will generate valuable electricity in future, especially in winter.

In combination with the existing Logistics Center 1, which has a photovoltaic system with around 1088 kWp, a comprehensive "Net Zero" system will soon be created on the entire site in Aclens. This includes a medium-voltage site grid, a large battery storage system and an e-charging infrastructure with 40 charging points that can supply up to 50 electric trucks with electricity overnight. In this way, renewable energy production, electricity storage, intelligent control and sustainable mobility are efficiently combined across the entire site. This means that 100% of the electricity produced can be used directly on site.

The site also has a direct rail connection, which enables efficient last-mile delivery to customers in western Switzerland. The intelligent combination of road and rail makes distribution across the Galliker sites particularly sustainable and efficient.

The opening of Logistics Center 2 in Aclens is an important milestone in the history of Galliker. With this expansion, the family-owned company is strengthening its presence in western Switzerland and sending a clear signal for innovation, efficiency and sustainability in the logistics sector.
