A partnership with future

Galliker has been handling deliveries and returns for VELUX for years. Until now, the company operated part of the warehouse, but now it's coming entirely to Galliker: the new VELUX logistics centre in Dagmersellen was opened on 26 November.

The cooperation will become even closer. For years, Galliker Transport & Logistics has taken care of the logistics for the product range of roof and flat roof windows of VELUX Schweiz AG. Until now, Galliker operated part of the warehouse, but now the family business is taking it over completely: the new VELUX logistics centre in Dagmersellen was opened on 26 November. "This is where we bundle all goods movements," says Rolf Biesser, Managing Director of VELUX Schweiz. 3800 product variants are already available, small and spare parts will follow.

Great logistics know-how
"We are pleased that our long-standing partner is now fully relying on our know-how in the field of transport and logistics," says Galliker CEO Peter Galliker. Several Swiss companies have partially or completely outsourced their logistics to Galliker. In the case of VELUX, this was previously done via the central warehouse in Gärtringen (D). "The opening of the new centre is a logical step to strengthen our local roots," says Rolf Biesser. "It will enable us to provide Swiss customers with faster service and even more products can be delivered within two days."

Trend towards national warehouses
VELUX is not the only company that is reorienting itself from an international distribution centre towards a Swiss solution. The trend can be seen at various companies. The cooperation with Galliker should become even more intensive. New ideas like a 24h delivery in case of emergencies or a spare parts express are in preparation. Furthermore, with its sustainability strategy 2030, VELUX is pursuing the ambitious goal of offsetting all CO2 emissions since the company was founded in 1942. The new logistics centre contributes to this: Thanks to shorter distances and more efficient processes, empty transports can be reduced by up to 20 percent. It is a sustainable collaboration, which fits in perfectly with Galliker's green logistics strategy.
