Liquefied petroleum gas LPG - MOVING - GREAT - THINGS TOGETHER

In collaboration with CombiFuel Swiss AG (CFS), Galliker launched a joint project in May 2021 that is currently at an advanced stage of development and has so far made significant progress.
The aim was to retrofit a truck with a conventional diesel engine to a lower-emission, liquid gas-based engine. The vehicle chosen was a Volvo FH-420 semitrailer truck. The CombiFuel® retrofit kit achieves emission reductions of up to 40% by partially replacing diesel with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG/autogas).
The project is currently in the pilot phase, and further development of the system is underway. In line with a planned series production, test drives were carried out under regular everyday conditions. The vehicle was returned to the CFS development workshop at the end of December 2021 for analysis and evaluation of the test operation. Further adjustments and optimizations to the retrofit system are currently taking place.

However, the CombiFuel® retrofit kit is also undergoing further development in parallel: as a result of the numerous findings from this project, work was simultaneously carried out on the further development of the retrofit system, which will mean that other truck models from various manufacturers can also be retrofitted in the future.
