World premiere: First e-car transporter arrives

Galliker is consistently pushing ahead with the development of CO2-neutral vehicles. On 8th March 2022 the family-owned company headquartered in Altishofen, Switzerland, took delivery of the world's first all-electric car transporter. From now on, Galliker will deliver with zero emission, new cars throughout Switzerland with this new e-car transporter.

The next world premiere: on March 8, the management of Galliker Transport AG took delivery of the first fully electric car transporter. The new articulated truck was developed in a cooperation with Futuricum, the e-truck brand of the Swiss Designwerk Group, and the body manufacturer Kässbohrer. Galliker has been working with the Austrian company Kässbohrer for decades. Designwerk, in turn, has also developed the all-electric 40-ton tractor-trailer units which have been on the road for Galliker since last October 2021. Their handover was also a world premiere.

Emission-free delivery of cars

Green Logistics has been an important part of Galliker's strategy for some time. The new e-car transporter is a further element in this. It is used for the delivery of new cars within Switzerland. "The automotive industry is increasingly focusing on alternative drive systems such as hybrid, electric and hydrogen," says Rolf Galliker. "Their interest in sustainable logistics solutions." The electric cartransporter is the answer to this, according to the president of the Board of Directors and head of Galliker Car Logistics. Together with vehicle developer and Designwerk founder Tobias Wüsler, Rolf Galliker will personally take over the first zero-emission delivery to the dealers in Switzerland.

680 hp - all-electric body

The new truck will cover distances of around 450 kilometers a day. It has a total output of 680 hp and is powered by four modular battery packs with a total capacity of 900 kilowatt hours. In addition to the drive, the operation of the superstructure from Kässbohrer is also fully electric. It ensures that new vehicles can be taken along on two levels to be transported. After use, the accumulators are charged overnight. If a quick charging is required, the vehicle can be charged to 80 percent capacity of battery within 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Exceptional approval from FEDRO

The e-car transporter is on the road with an exceptional permit from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Because of its battery packs, it is two tons heavier than conventional vehicles and one meter longer - the energy source is located directly behind the driver's cab. "Thanks to FEDRO's concession, we can transport the same number of cars with the zero-emission vehicle as with a conventional truck" says CEO Peter Galliker. Galliker is grateful for the concession from the Federal Roads Office. This means that nothing stands in the way of daily use of the next revolutionary vehicle in the Galliker fleet.
